A full range of banking services, including current accounts are now available from Leeds City Credit Union (LCCU)*.

In a unique first for credit unions, ABCUL (the Association of British Credit Unions Ltd) has fronted a project designed to bring ethical, high-street banking to individuals across the UK.  Your local credit union, LCCU is one of several credit unions involved in the pilot scheme and is aiming to make financial services more accessible to anyone who lives or works in the Leeds Metropolitan District.  LCCU hopes to be joined by a second phase of credit unions as the project gains momentum.    

LCCU’s Current Account offers a range of facilities including: access to cash at any ATM machine in the LINK network; direct debits and standing orders; use of a VISA Debit card; and instant access to salaries/wages/benefits etc. 

PLEASE NOTE

This account is a ’stand alone’ card cash account, with direct (electronic) deposits. 

• Deposits - of cash or cheques into the current account (CUCA) are made through a Credit Union instant access account. 
• Withdrawals  - over the counter withdrawals of cash cannot be  done instantly (in a branch). Notice has to been given for a transfer of funds. At the moment, this takes 1 to 2 working days.
• Cleared funds can be transferred the same day to a CUCA account
• There is a weekly charge of 75p.

Why open a Credit Union Current Account?

• ATM card with all accounts 
• Use the ATM card to withdraw available cash from over 30,000 LINK cash machines all over the country - up to £250 per day
• If you qualify for a DEBIT card you will be able to get cash from supermarkets or pay for goods  and services that display the VISA Debit sign
• Have wages, salary, pension or benefits paid straight into your Credit Union Current Account
• Have your Credit Union loan paid directly into this account, or transfer Credit Union savings for easy access
• Set up standing orders or direct debits to pay your bills
